Professor Masato Okada completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, followed by dual postdoctoral fellowships in Rheumatology and Allergy & Clinical Immunology at Yale University. During his tenure at Yale, he was the recipient of the Markey Physician-Scientist Award and the ACR Senior Rheumatology Scholar Award. In 1997, he relocated to Europe to join the American Hospital of Paris, where he practiced until 2006, when he returned to Japan to establish and lead the Immuno-Rheumatology Center at St. Luke’s International Hospital in Tokyo. His research interests include systemic lupus erythematosus, lupus nephritis, connective tissue diseases, pulmonary hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and other systemic autoimmune diseases. He currently holds an academic appointment as Visiting Professor at Aichi Medical University and is actively involved in several academic societies, including serving as a council member of the Japan College of Rheumatology and a board member of the Japan Society of Clinical Rheumatology. He is also a member of several international organisations, including the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis and other global societies.
