Gulen Hatemi

Gülen Hatemi is a Professor of Medicine in Istanbul University – Cerrahpasa, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology. She is a member of the Behçet’s Syndrome Research Center in Istanbul University, a multidisciplinary center specialized in research and care of patients with Behçet’s syndrome. Her main research area is Behçet’s syndrome and she has published several articles including drug trials and clinical research on this disorder. She is the convenor of the 2025 Update of the EULAR Recommendations for the management of Behçet’s syndrome. She has conducted a series of studies focused on understanding the life impact of Behçet’s syndrome. She is also interested in outcome measures development. She is currently the convenor of the Disease Assessment Study Group of the International Society for Behçet’s Disease and is co-chairing the OMERACT Behçet’s Syndrome working group.
