Do I need a visa to enter Japan?
People of some countries (or from some regions) do not need a visa if their period of stay in Japan is 90 days or less and they are not going to be engaged in income-earning activities. Refer to the List of Countries and Regions that have Visa Exemption Arrangements with Japan.
How much does a visa cost?
Fees must be paid for the issuance of visas. The fees are about 3,000 yen for a single-entry visa, 6,000 yen for a double-entry or multiple-entry visa, and 700 yen for a transit visa. Fees are collected in the currency of the country (region) in which the Embassy / Consulate General is located.
Depending on the purpose of your visit and your nationality, fees may not be required or may be a different amount.
If the visa is not issued, no fees are required. The processing fees are needed in addition to the visa issuance fees in case the visa application is made through an approved agency by the Embassy / Consulate General of Japan.

What is the processing time for a visa application?
The standard processing period, when it does not have any problem on contents of the application, takes five working days from the next day after the date of the acceptance of application. Meanwhile, it may take longer than usual if a large number of visa applications converge at a short-time period. In addition, please note that it may take more than 5 working days (ranging from a couple of weeks to several months) in such cases where additional confirmation is required (submission of additional documents, an interview with the applicant, inquiries, etc.), or when a visa application is made for a long-term stay without a Certificate of Eligibility. Thus, visa applicants are recommended to apply early for their visa well in advance of the anticipated travel date.

What is an SGAC?
All travellers are required to submit the SG Arrival Card before arriving in Singapore, except:
- Those transiting/transferring through Singapore without seeking immigration clearance; and
- Residents (Singapore citizens, Permanent Residents, Long-Term Pass holders*) travelling through Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints.
*Long-Term Pass holders include holders of Student’s Pass, Dependant’s Pass, Long-Term Visit Pass and Work Pass.

When do I need to submit my SGAC?
You are required to submit the SGAC within three (3) days (including the day of arrival) before arrival in Singapore.* This is to avoid unnecessary delays during immigration clearance upon your arrival.
*For example, if you are arriving in Singapore on 30 Jun 2024, you can submit your declaration from 28 Jun 2024 onwards.
Do I need a visa to enter Singapore?
Most visitors to Singapore do not require a visa for entry.
For a list of countries that require a valid Visa for entry into Singapore, you can check the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)’s website, or enquire at the Singapore Overseas Mission closest to you.
What is the processing time for a visa?
A visa application will be processed between 3 to 5 working days. Some applications may take longer to process. Each visa application will be considered on its own merits.
If approved, an electronic copy of your visa (e-visa) which will indicate the number of entries allowed and the visa validity period will be sent to you via email.
How much does a visa cost?
The processing fee is USD 22.00. The fee collected is non-refundable regardless of the outcome of application or if you withdraw the application after submission.
