Prof Catherine Hill

Professor Catherine Hill is a Consultant Rheumatologist at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital, and Clinical Professor at the University of Adelaide. Her research focuses on the epidemiology of rheumatic diseases, vasculitis, and osteoarthritis. She established Australia’s first Giant Cell Arteritis Registry in 2009, enabling national and international collaborations in vasculitis research. She has led major osteoarthritis trials and contributed musculoskeletal data to the North West Adelaide Health Study and the Global Burden of Disease project.
Professor Hill has also led the development of the Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinical Care Standards for the Australian Rheumatology Association, guiding best practice and equity in care delivery. She has held leadership roles within OMERACT, co-chairing initiatives on remission in rheumatoid arthritis and leading programmes on polymyalgia rheumatica and glucocorticoid adverse events. A former President of the Australian Rheumatology Association, she is recognised for mentoring emerging clinician-scientists and championing flexible academic career pathways.
