Dr Oldroyd is a Clinical Lecturer (rheumatology) at the University of Manchester, UK. He is also a member of the specialist myositis team at Salford Royal Hospital, which provides expert care for patients with myositis from across the north of England and beyond. His research focuses on improving cancer screening strategies in myositis, with an emphasis on generating high-quality evidence and translating research findings into routine clinical practice. He led development of the 2023 Myositis Cancer Screening Guideline. He also led the MyoScreen Study, the first study to demonstrate the ability of blood-based liquid biopsy to enable early cancer detection in myositis.
