Prof. Nighat Mir Ahmad after doing her MBBS from Fatima Jinnah Medical College Lahore (FJMC) proceeded to USA where she did her residency training in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital Chicago, Illinois, USA. She did her training in Rheumatology from Metro Health Hospital affiliated with Case Western University, Cleveland Ohio, USA.

Achievements:
She is currently Dean Faculty of Rheumatology College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), Chair Faculty of Rheumatology at University of Health Sciences (UHS) where she is actively engaged in development and updating the syllabus of rheumatology at postgraduate & undergraduate level. She is pioneer in developing the first training program in Rheumatology, recognized by College of Physician and Surgeons (CPSP), at FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry affiliated with University of Health Sciences (UHS). Development of postgraduate programs in FMH while serving as Associate Dean Post graduate training program in FMH College of Medicine & Dentistry.

She is also the Founder Trustee & Chairperson of the first ever Trust, Arthritis Care Foundation (ACF), which is actively involved in supporting patient care for the needy, education and training in the field of rheumatology.
She is one of the Past Presidents of Pakistan Society for Rheumatology (PSR).

Development of postgraduate course for Family Physicians through ILAR grant and organizing seminars for them all over Pakistan.

Awards:
American Board of Internal Medicine awarded 30 years Certified recognition certificate

Awar of Excellence by Fouji Foundation Medical College 2025

Award of Excellence by His Excellency Governor of Punjab, in recognition of her invaluable contribution during COVID- 19 pandemic in 2021.

She was awarded “Master of ACR award by American College of Rheumatology (ACR) “in 2019 for her services in establishing education, training & patient care in this field.

She received “Award of Excellence” from Pakistan Society for Rheumatology (PSR) in 2017 for her outstanding contribution to the field of Rheumatology in Pakistan and her efforts in initiating CPSP training fellowship in Rheumatology.

She received “Certificate of Excellence” being Pioneer of the Department of Rheumatology by Fatima Memorial Alumni Association in 2009.

She was awarded “Gold medal for services in the field of Rheumatology, “by all Pakistan NGO’s Association.

APLAR Services:
She is currently Faculty and Facilitator of Vasculitis course arranged by APLAR Academy

She was Member APLAR International Affairs Committee which did work on EULAR APLAR Collaboration on ESOR in 2019.

She is Convener of APLAR SIG Social Commitment and Patient Outreach and a member of APLAR Lupus SIG.

Conducted the first ever Lupus Course and she is the Co-Director of this course “12 Topics in Lupus”

Scientific Committee Member of APLAR for 25-2027 term

BMJ Course
One of the authors of Primary Care Rheumatic & Musculoskeletal PG Certificate course.

In Addition…
She has organized several International Conferences and Symposia in Rheumatology including education initiative for Family Physicians of Pakistan. She has several research publications in her name and have been invited as speaker in various National and International Rheumatology conferences.
