Dr. Yasuharu Nakashima is one of Japan’s leading orthopedic surgeons. He graduated from Kyushu University in 1990 and after clinical training went on to graduate school. There he conducted research on artificial joints, and from 1994 he went to Stanford University to develop his research in the same field. 1998 he returned to Kyushu University, where he has been in charge of hip joints, rheumatoid arthritis, and pediatric orthopedics, and has made many achievements, mainly in clinical research. 2016 he became Chief Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Kyushu University and has served as President of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association since 2021 and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Japanese College of Rheumatology since 2025.
