Dr. Wan-Uk Kim received his MD from The Catholic University of East Asia, Seoul, East Asia in 1992. Currently, he is a Professor of Medicine, Vice-President of Seoul St. Mary Hospital, and Director of National Creative Research Center at The Catholic University of East Asia. He obtained his PhD from The Catholic University of East Asia and studied advanced cellular and molecular immunology at Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA. He has a strong interest in improving patient care by better understanding the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. He has been extensively working on basic and translational aspects of rheumatoid arthritis, especially focusing on synovioyte biology and systems biology in rheumatoid arthritis. He has published over 180 papers, including Nat Immunol, Nat Rev Rheumatol, JCI, and PNAS, and his work has led to the development of a new therapy targeting rheumatoid synoviocytes. He currently is serving on the editorial board of Experimental & Molecular Medicine and Science Bulletin journal.
