Dr. Nan Shen is a distinguished professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and serves as the Director of the Shanghai Institute of Rheumatology & Shanghai Clinical Research Center for Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases. He is also the Co-Director of the China–Australia Centre for Personalized Immunology at Renji Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Shen holds an adjunct professorship at the Center for Autoimmune Genomics and Etiology, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, University of Cincinnati.
Having earned his medical degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Dr. Shen went on to obtain his Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam. His research primarily focuses on understanding the molecular pathways involved in systemic autoimmune diseases and developing innovative biomarkers and interventions for managing systemic lupus erythematosus.
Dr. Shen has published over 180 articles in esteemed peer-reviewed journals and has held editorial positions such as Associate Editor for Arthritis & Rheumatology, Arthritis Research & Therapy, and International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases. He is also an editorial board member for the Annals of Rheumatic Diseases, Clinical Immunology, and Scientific Reports, as well as a faculty member of Faculty of 1000 Prime.
His outstanding research contributions have been acknowledged with numerous prestigious awards, including the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the ACR Rheumatology Research Foundation Edmund L. Dubois, MD, Memorial Lectureship.
