Haruka Tsuchiya

Haruka Tsuchiya was born in Fukuoka, Japan, in 1982. She spent her childhood in Kanagawa and Shizuoka, Japan. She received M.D. degrees from Gunma University, Japan in 2006, and her Ph.D. from The University of Tokyo, Japan in 2018. In 2019, she began working as an associate professor at The Department of Allergy and Rheumatology, The University of Tokyo Hospital, and then became a lecturer in 2023.
Her research interests include human immunology, mesenchymal cells (especially synovial fibroblasts), single-cell omics, rheumatoid arthritis, and spondyloarthritis. She has received several academic awards as the first author including the International Concurrent Workshop Excellent Abstract Award in the Japan College of Rheumatology (JCR), the Best Presentation Award in the Japanese Society for Immunology (JSI), Tadamitsu Kishimoto International Travel Award in the JSI, and the Best Presentation Award in the Japanese Society of Osteoimmunology. She is a member of the Japanese Scientists To Advance Rheumatology (J-STAR) – Basic Research (BR) and International Relationship (IR), JCR International School Committee, and Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology Young Rheumatologists (AYR).
