Vidya Limaye is a staff specialist Rheumatologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. After completing her rheumatology training, she undertook a PhD in the Vascular Biology Laboratory at the Hanson Institute studying the role of sphingosine kinase in inflammation and angiogenesis. She has since established the South Australian Myositis Database; this is a large repository of over 1000 patients with myositis which has enabled the study of clinical, epidemiological and immunogenetic aspects of inflammatory myopathies. She has been an Expert Panel Member in the development of myositis cancer screening guidelines and is a member of the IMACS Scientific Committee. She has been actively involved in the APLAR Myositis SIG and is leading an investigation into how ethnicity shapes serological variability and phenotype in myositis.
