Dr Uthpala Dissanayake

Dr. Uthpala Dissanayake, MBBS, MD, MRCP (London), is a Consultant Rheumatologist at the National Hospital, Kandy, Sri Lanka. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya and obtained her MD in Rheumatology from the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo.

She completed overseas rheumatology training at Queen’s Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and holds the Speciality Certificate in Rheumatology, UK.

Dr. Dissanayake is actively involved in postgraduate medical education in Sri Lanka. She serves on the Board of Study in Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine and contributes as a trainer and examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate medical examinations.

Her clinical and research interests include point-of-care musculoskeletal ultrasound in rheumatology, connective tissue disease–associated interstitial lung disease, immune-mediated inflammatory myopathies, and women’s reproductive health in systemic rheumatic diseases.
