Dr Tae-Gyun Kim

Dr. Tae-Gyun Kim is a clinical dermatologist and physician-scientist investigating the basic and translational mechanisms by which chronic autoimmune and immune-mediated inflammatory skin diseases persist and recur. His research focuses on dysregulated cellular interactions that disrupt cutaneous immune homeostasis and drive the breakdown of immune tolerance. Leveraging state-of-the-art immunological approaches integrated with translational multi-omics technologies, he aims to define the cellular and molecular circuits underlying chronic skin inflammation. His previous work highlighted key pathogenic molecular cues responsible for recurrent type 17 T cell activation within the skin. More recently, his research has focused on cutaneous type I interferonopathies, with the goal of identifying pathogenic cellular crosstalk and molecular drivers of cutaneous autoimmunity, including cutaneous lupus erythematosus.
