Prof Maureen Rischmueller

Maureen Rischmueller is a consultant rheumatologist at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (South Australia), visiting medical officer at Alice Springs and Royal Darwin Hospitals (Northern Territory), and Clinical Professor, Adelaide University. She has a long-standing clinical and research interest in autoimmune rheumatic diseases, with a particular focus on Sjögren disease, in which she pioneered research into genetic risk factors, systemic manifestations, and novel autoantibody associations. She has co-authored >150 publications and 4 book chapters and was twice-winner of the Sjögren Foundation (USA) Ethel Baxter Award for Excellence in Research.
She is founder and custodian of the South Australian Sjögren disease registry and biobank, chair of ARA Sjögren Special Interest Group (SIG), medical lead, Sjögren’s Australia Medical Advisory Panel, co-chair OMERACT Sjögren SIG, founding member APLAR Sjögren SIG, Sjögren Genetics Consortium, EULAR Sjögren Taskforce Big Data Consortium, and member of Scientific Committee for the Biennial International Symposium on Sjögren disease.
