Joon Young Song, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor of Infectious Diseases at Korea University Guro Hospital, Korea University College of Medicine, Seoul, South Korea. He was a visiting scientist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (20122013). He serves on the Adult Immunization Committee of the Korean Society of Infectious Diseases, is a member of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agencys Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, chairs its pneumococcal subcommittee, and directs the Vaccine Development Division at the Vaccine Innovation Center of Korea (VIC-K). His research focuses on respiratory viral infections, pneumococcal diseases, vaccine immunogenicity, and the microbiome. He has authored more than 320 SCI-indexed publications and contributed extensively to national immunization policy and guidelines.
