Lai-Shan Tam, MD, is division Head and Chair Professor in the Division of Rheumatology within the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Prof Tam is the Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology (APLAR) President-Elect. She was the Vice President (from 2014 to 2016), Chairperson of the APLAR International Affairs Committee (from 2012 to 2021), Center of Excellence committee and the APLAR Academy coordinator (2021-2025). She has also been a EULAR honorary member since 2019. She serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases and Arthritis Research & Therapy, and she is an international advisory board member of The Lancet Rheumatology. She is the first author or co-author of over 300 articles published in major rheumatology journals, with an H-index of 59.
Professor Tam’s research interests include premature atherosclerosis and bone loss in patients with rheumatic diseases. She has been the Chairperson (Asia) of the Study GrouP for XTrEme-Computed Tomography in Rheumatoid Arthritis (SPECTRA) since 2014 and has also been a member of The Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA) since 2012.
