Professor Eric Morand is a physician-scientist and Dean of the Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine at Monash University. This sub-faculty includes research and teaching activities in partnership with Monash Health and the Hudson Institute of Medical Research.
Professor Morand specializes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). He founded the Monash Lupus Clinic, Australia’s largest research-based SLE clinic, and is a founding member of the Australian Lupus Registry & Biobank. He chairs the Asia-Pacific Lupus Collaboration. His research focuses on glucocorticoids in rheumatic disease and clinical outcomes in lupus.
He is also a clinical rheumatologist and heads the Monash Health Rheumatology Unit, the largest in Australia.
Professor Morand’s key research interests include clinical outcome measurement and biological profiling in SLE, and the actions of glucocorticoid-induced proteins on the immune system.
