Dr. Muhammad Haroon is a highly accomplished rheumatologist and academic with a distinguished international career. He earned his MBBS from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, followed by specialist training through the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, where he completed dual fellowships in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. He holds a PhD from University College Dublin, with research conducted under the mentorship of Prof. Oliver FitzGerald at St. Vincent’s University Hospital and Prof. Robert Winchester at Columbia University Medical Centre, New York. His research focuses on clinical and genetic aspects of Psoriatic Arthritis and Spondyloarthropathies. Dr. Haroon also holds a Master’s in Sports & Exercise Medicine from University College Cork and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and presented nearly 100 abstracts at national and international rheumatology conferences. Professionally, he has served as Staff Physician at St. Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin and as Consultant Rheumatologist and Clinical Senior Lecturer at University Hospital Kerry and University College Cork, where he also chaired the Department of Medicine and led research initiatives. He established the National Psoriatic Arthritis Registry of Ireland and has contributed to numerous international research collaborations and advisory boards. Since returning to Pakistan in 2018, Dr. Haroon has led an academic rheumatology department, actively teaching and supervising clinical and genetic research. He founded the Rheumatic Diseases Registry of Pakistan and continues to publish in top-tier journals such as Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases and Arthritis & Rheumatology.
