Gerd R. Burmester, MD, is Senior Professor in the Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and a consultant rheumatologist at MVZ Endokrinologikum since 2022. Previously, he led the Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at the Charité from 1993 to 2022. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of EULAR Rheumatology Open and is a member of the German National Academy of Science. A Highly Cited Researcher recognized by Clarivate Analytics since 2017, he has authored over 1,000 original and review articles. Dr. Burmester has served as President of the German Society of Rheumatology, EULAR, and FOREUM Foundation for Research in Rheumatology. He is a Master of the American College of Rheumatology and APLAR. His honors include the EULAR Meritorious Service Award in Rheumatology and honorary membership in the German Society of Rheumatology.
