Dr. Yuriko Yamamura is a Research Associate at the School of Infection and Immunity, University of Glasgow, where she specializes in the translational research of Rheumatic diseases. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Ph.D. in Medicine at the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University in 2011 and 2018, respectively.
For her doctoral research, Dr. Yamamura investigated the correlation between keratinocytes differentiation and their immunological reaction towards Herpes Simplex Virus infection and had it published. During this time, she also trained as a JCR-board certified rheumatologist and instructor.
She expanded her interest in immunology towards immune cells, especially T cells and Monocytes, derived from peripheral blood of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriatic Arthritis, and received Tenovus Scotland Small Pilot grants for this.
In addition to her research, Dr. Yamamura is committed to enhance global collaboration among early-career researchers and clinicians as a J-STAR member.
