Prof. SA Haq, Chief Consultant at Green Life Center for Rheumatic Care and Research, was the founder-chairman and Professor of the first Rheumatology Department in Bangladesh. He established the first Rheumatology clinic in Bangladesh in 1992. He formed the Bangladesh Rheumatology Society in 1997 and is currently its president. He founded the COPCORD Study Group in Bangladesh in 2000. Dr. Haq has more than 200 publications in national and international journals, of which 125 are originals. The Bangladesh Academy of Sciences awarded him a Gold Medal for his contribution to advancing science in the country. APLAR and ACR have awarded him the APLAR and ACR Master awards. He has served APLAR as APLAR-COPCORD coordinator, Vice President, Treasurer, and President. Currently, he is serving APLAR as the Mentor of the Education Committee, a member of the Core Committee of the APLAR Academy, and Convener, Social Commitment, and Patient Outreach SIG.
