Dr. Sumaira Farman is a distinguished rheumatologist who, after completing her MRCP (London) and rheumatology training in Pakistan, successfully cleared the U.K. Rheumatology Specialist Examination. She is an International Fellow of both the American College of Physicians (FACP) and the American College of Rheumatology (FACR), as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, London. Based in Lahore, she serves as Professor and Head of the Rheumatology Department at the National Hospital Postgraduate Training & Medical Centre. She also holds visiting faculty positions, including Chair of Paediatric Rheumatology at the Institute of Rheumatic Diseases, Central Park Teaching Hospital & Medical College, and faculty roles at Fatima Jinnah Medical University and the University of Health Sciences. Dr. Farman is a Supervisor and Examiner in Rheumatology for the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan. Though primarily an adult rheumatologist, she completed a pediatric rheumatology internship at Kansas University Medical Centre, USA, through an ACP International Fellowship, and earned a Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Rheumatology from the University of Western Australia. She pioneered pediatric rheumatology clinics within adult services in Lahore. Dr. Farman is a Past President and current Council Member of the Pakistan Society for Rheumatology (PSR), Associate Editor of the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases, and serves on the Steering Committee of the Global Paediatric MSK Task Force and the PMM editorial board. She is also Convener of the APLAR Paediatric Rheumatology SIG, Vice President of APLAR, and Co-Chairperson and Founder Trustee of the Arthritis Care Foundation in Lahore.
