Dr. Shigeki Momohara graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Keio University in 1984 and earned his Doctorate in Medicine from the same university in 1995. He was a research fellow at the Department of Biochemistry, Rush University Medical Center, USA, from 1994 to 1996, and participated in the Japan-Europe Rheumatic Surgery Exchange Program in 1999.
He began his career in orthopedic surgery at Keio University Hospital and later held academic positions at both Keio University and Tokyo Women’s Medical University.
Since 2008, he has served as Professor at the Institute of Rheumatology, Tokyo Women’s Medical University.
In 2016, he was appointed as Specially Appointed Professor at Keio University.
From April 2025, he will assume the role of Chairman of Hakkeikai Medical Institution and Director of Kusanagi Orthopedic & Rheumatologic Clinic. His clinical and academic interests focus on rheumatologic surgery and the advancement of multidisciplinary care in rheumatic diseases.
