Nan Shen

Dr. Nan Shen is a Professor of Medicine and a Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is also the Director of the Shanghai Institute of Rheumatology and the Shanghai Clinical Research Center for Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases. Additionally, he holds the position of Co-Director of the China–Australia Centre for Personalised Immunology at Renji Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Amsterdam. His research primarily focuses on the molecular dissection of disease pathways in systemic autoimmune diseases and on developing novel biomarkers and interventions for managing systemic lupus erythematosus. He has published over 180 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Shen has served as Associate Editor for Annals of Rheumatic Diseases, Arthritis Research & Therapy, the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases, and Translational Research. In addition, he is a Faculty member of Faculty of 1000 Prime. His research contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the ACR Rheumatology Research Foundation’s Edmund L. Dubois, MD, Memorial Lectureship.
