Joan T Merrill, M.D. is Professor, Arthritis & Clinical Immunology Program at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and OMRF Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma, United States, Adjunct Professor of Medicine at New York University, and Chief Advisor for Clinical Development at the Lupus Foundation of America. She has many decades of experience designing and implementing clinical trials for SLE, investigating approaches to improve the testing of new treatments through improved outcome measures and data quality, and immunologic analysis to predict response and optimize dosing for this heterogenous disease.
