After graduating from Kyoto University, Dr. Chikashi TERAO completed his initial medical training before pursuing a Ph.D. at the university’s Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology. His research focuses on the genetic and epidemiological analysis of rheumatic diseases and immune disorders, as well as population genetics.
In the winter of 2014, he joined Harvard University and Brigham and Women’s Hospital under the mentorship of Professor Soumya Raychaudhuri, where he continued his genetic studies on rheumatic diseases. Since 2019, he has held his current position while maintaining his clinical practice at Shizuoka General Hospital and other institutions. With a strong emphasis on clinical application, his research extends across a wide range of diseases and traits through genetic epidemiology.
