Amr Sawalha

Amr H. Sawalha, M.D., is a Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics, and Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He holds the Vincent Londino Endowed Chair and serves as Director of the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology and the Lupus Center of Excellence. A graduate of Jordan University of Science and Technology, he completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a Rheumatology fellowship at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on the genetic and epigenetic contributions to autoimmune disease pathogenesis, using genomic, epigenomic, and bioinformatics approaches. His work aims to uncover disease mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets in immune-mediated diseases. He has authored over 200 articles and serves on multiple journal editorial boards. Dr. Sawalha has received numerous awards and is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation.
