APLAR, or the Asia-Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology, held their 27th annual congress in Fukuoka from September 3rd until September 7th. The event saw an incredible turn-out with over 2,500 participants from 68 countries and 1,900 abstract submissions! This makes it the largest APLAR Congress yet!

Held in the Fukuoka International Congress Center, this was an event that brought together researchers from all over the region- and beyond- to discuss, learn, and better their practice and knowledge of rheumatology. Professor Yoshiya Tanaka (School of Medicine, University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan) of the Japan College of Rheumatology was Congress Chair, and with a theme of Go Beyond, With Harmony, he sought to communicate that the shared study of medicine is both something that unites us all around the world while also allowing us to transcend our limitations as individuals.

With support from PCO MCI Australia the event truly went well, and members of The Fukuoka Convention and Visitors Bureau were also among those assisting at the event. We also must mention the valuable efforts of JNTO as Team Japan, who supported the efforts of the team to bring this event to Fukuoka as well.

Congratulations on the success everybody!
