The mission for remission: what is now possible for our patients?

Synopsis:

This symposium will explore how we can prioritise remission as the primary treatment goal for patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and its importance in helping to reduce accrual of organ damage early in the disease course. During the symposium, Professor Yoshiya Tanaka, Professor Eric Morand and Dr Sheetal Desai will discuss key topics including identifying patients most at risk of disease progression, how use of innovative biologic treatments can help to achieve ambitious goals, such as remission or low disease activity, as part of a treat-to-target approach, and how to implement glucocorticoid‑sparing strategies with the goal of protecting patients from disease- and treatment‑related damage. Drawing upon their own real‑world experience, the panel will also discuss the management of patients with heterogenous and diffcult-to-treat manifestations of SLE. Following the presentations, delegates will have the opportunity to engage with the expert faculty on the symposium topics through an interactive Q&A session.
