Rheumatoid arthritis is associated with an elevated risk of sarcopenia due to pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α.TNF inhibitors have the potential to mitigate sarcopenia by both suppressing arthritis and directly targeting TNF-mediated muscle atrophy.
