Dr. Hiroaki Niiro is a professor in the Department of Medical Education at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University. He earned his M.D. in 1989 and Ph.D. in Medical Science in 1997, both from Kyushu University. Following this early clinical training in Fukuoka, he pursued postdoctoral research in microbiology at the University of Washington from 1998 to 2004. Returning to Kyushu University, he held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor at the Center for Cellular and Molecular Medicine and Department of Medicine and Biosystemic Science, followed by appointments as Lecturer and Associate Professor at the Clinical Education Center. Since 2016, he has led efforts in advancing medical education at Kyushu University. Dr. Niiro is an active member of several professional societies, including the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, the Japan College of Rheumatology, the Japan Society for Clinical Immunology, and the Japan Society of Medical Education.
