Dr. Kenji Oku is a physician-scientist specializing in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), with a research focus on complement system abnormalities. He graduated from Hokkaido University School of Medicine in 2001 and earned his Ph.D. in 2009. After serving in various academic roles at Hokkaido University and Kitasato University, he became Professor and Chair of the Department of Rheumatology at Tokai University School of Medicine in April 2024.
Dr. Oku is Secretary-General of the APS Guideline Committee and has received multiple awards, including the Complement Society Excellence Award and the International APS Meeting Outstanding Presentation Award. He holds an MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and actively contributes to international APS research and guideline development
