Dr Claire Barrett, BSc (1st Hons), MBBS (Lond), FRCP, FRACP, GAICD
is a clinical rheumatologist working in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. She is the immediate past President of the Australian Rheumatology Association (ARA), and current chair of the ARA Annual Scientific Programme Committee.

Dr Barrett was awarded her Medical Degree in 1987 from University College London. In 1996 she established a public rheumatology service at Redcliffe Hospital. Today, the service boasts a team of 5 dedicated rheumatologists, an advanced trainee, and a clinical nurse consultant.

In addition, Dr Barrett is a Co-Director of Redcliffe and Northside Rheumatology alongside her esteemed colleague, Dr. Laurel Young, They both have a keen interest in the optimal management of pregnancy in those with immune rheumatic disease. .

Dr Barrett is a member of the APLAR Women’s Health and Reproductive Issue SIG and co-chair of the newly formed ARA Reproductive Health SIG.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr Barrett enjoys time with her family, husband Graeme, a retired Obstetrician, their five children and partners, and 7 adored grandchildren, whose laughter brings much joy to her life.
