He is Professor of Rheumatology at Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University. He leads a clinical programme in rheumatic diseases at the University Hospital and coordinates multidisciplinary care for more than 2,000 patients. His group participates in many clinical trials on rheumatic diseases and has translational and basic science research programs focused on pathogenesis mechanisms and novel agents.
