Dr James Cheng-Chung Wei obtained his MD degree in National Yang Ming University and PhD degree in Chung Shan medical university. After training in rheumatology and clinical immunology at Taichung Veterans General Hospital and Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, he undertook a fellowship at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath, UK, under the supervision of Professor Andrei Calin, and a research fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) under Professor David Yu, investigating the clinical and pathogenesis of spondyloarthritis.
He had conducted over 200 global clinical trials and about 50 investigator-initiated clinical trials. He is currently a full member of the ACR, GRAPPA and ASAS. He is also the scientific advisory board of the APALR, and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases and associate editor of the Frontiers in Immunology.
Dr Wei had published more than 300 papers in peer-reviewed SCI journals , such as the NEJM, JAMA, Lancet, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, Arthritis & Rheumatology, Rheumatology, Journal of autoimmunity, Frontiers in Immunology, and International Journal of Epidemiology.
His major research interests are translational research in ankylosing spondylitis, clinical trials and big data research in rheumatology.
