Matthew Buckland

I trained in medicine in London and encountered my first PID patient, a CGD patient, in the year I qualified. That early experience stayed with me and inspired me to become an immunologist involved in the long-term medical care of patients with immune disorders both primary and secondary to immunosuppressive therapy.

My research focus is in the epidemiology of immunodeficiency and in the mechanisms of immune reconstitution in congenital athymia following allogeneic thymus transplantation.
I am the current Chair of Immunodeficiency UK a charity that supports patients living with primary and secondary immune deficiencies.
