Dr. Pisitkun is an immunologist-rheumatologist committed to scrutinizing the roots of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) at their breadth and depth via state-of-the-art tools and imaginations. At the NIAID, she discovered TLR7 as a susceptibility gene for SLE. She has continued translating immunogenomics investigations in lupus mice and SLE patients into actionable treatment solutions in Thailand. She has developed a panel of inflammatory cytokines to use as guidance for her patients’ precision management. During the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, her strong public spirit led to a call out to the Thai government to act on bringing a more proper vaccination platform for the Thai population. In March 2022, she was elected president of the Thai Rheumatism Association.
