B G Dharmanand was one of the earliest rheumatologists trained in India, qualifying from prestigious Madras medical college. He also had training in United Kingdom. He began his career in Manipal hospital, Bangalore where he served for 17 years before moving other centres and is working in Manipal Hospital, Millers road since 2018. He directed fellowship programs in Manipal, Sakra and Vikram Hospitals. He is also an examiner for fellowship courses all over the country. He was instrumental in bringing rheumatology/clinical immunology to centre stage in Karnataka. He has served as president of Karnataka chapter of Indian rheumatology association and is currently the national president (2021-2023).
